EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment)
The EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) aimed at apprentices in the electrical installation sector. Suitable for apprentices 16-18 and 19+, this qualification is made up of knowledge units and performance units which require occupational evidence.
The units cover a wide range of topics including health and safety, environmental technology systems, overseeing and organising the work environment, planning, preparing and installing electrical systems and equipment, terminating and connecting conductors, cables and flexible cords, inspecting, testing, commissioning and fault diagnosis and correction. Integral to this qualification is the Electrotechnical Occupational Competence Unit which is assessed by the AM2.

An example of a typical assessment plan that a candidate may undertake to complete the NVQ performance units:

Complete two electrical installations job write-up using a template supplied.

Complete two programme of works (template can be supplied if required).

Complete two risk assessments (template can be supplied if required).

Complete two method statements (template can be supplied if required).

Undergo two on-site observations (more dependent on experience).

Complete two professional discussions on fault finding.

Complete one professional discussion on inspection & testing.

Supply a witness testimony to confirm completion of an electrical installation test certificate.

Supply a witness testimony to confirm completion of a Minor work certificate.

Complete one professional discussion to cover the environmental unit standards.

Complete one or two online assessments. (dependent on the candidate’s prior qualifications).
All assessment is undertaken in the work place.
Entry requirements
Learners must be at least 16 years old. There are no formal entry requirements
for this qualification. However, learners must have the potential to achieve all
aspects of the qualification including the occupational evidence requirements
of the performance units. In particular, learners should be able to demonstrate
that they have the minimum levels of literacy and numerary required for the
completion of the learning outcomes and the assessments.
Course cost
The cost for delivery of the course is £1600.

The AM2 is a mandatory unit that will need to be completed, this comprises of a 2.5-day assessment that can be only taken at a registered AM2 test centre. Beau Associates can prepare candidates and book a test date.
