Full Course- EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment)

EAL 1605 is a full qualification that entitles those who complete it to apply for an Electrical Installation Gold Card.  There are no part qualifications following this route, but unit accreditations will be achieved as elements of the qualification are passed.

 

This qualification will allow you to work as a fully qualified electrician in domestic, industrial or commercial properties. There are also options to further your learning upon completing the course and when you have gained further experience.

 

The candidate will attend 30 evenings in year one and 30 evenings in year two to complete the knowledge element of the qualification.

The qualifications performance (NVQ) element can be completed over the following 9-24 months through assessments in the workplace, the time frame will depend on experience and readiness for assessment.

Candidates must complete the knowledge and performance units to achieve the full award and become fully qualified. The candidate must be employed in the electrical industry to complete the NVQ. The candidate must complete the AM2 end test to achieve Gold Card status.

 

The learner will study nine knowledge units (see delivery plan below). The units are assessed through an online multiple-choice examination, written assignments, and practical skills assessments.

During your course, you will need to use the following list of resources/equipment.  Not all of this will be required on the first visit to us.  Your tutor will discuss the list with you at your induction.

Stationery

  • A4 lever arch file

  • Black pen

  • Pencil

  • Ruler

  • Compass and protractor

  • Scientific calculator (Casio recommended brand

Workshop

  • Safety boots

  • Workwear (i.e. work trousers and outerwear)

  • Electrician’s tool kit (provided for use in our workshop, but you may prefer to use your own)

  • PPE (safety glasses, gloves, ear defenders, etc.) is provided in our workshop, but you may prefer to use your own.

Books

  • Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment Book 1

  • Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment Book 2

  • The IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

 

N.B. This is not an exhaustive list; you may need other items of equipment during the course.

Entry requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, learners must have the potential to achieve all aspects of the qualification, including the occupational evidence requirements of the performance units.

In particular, learners should be able to demonstrate that they have the minimum levels of literacy and numeracy required for the completion of the learning outcomes and the assessments.

Course cost

The cost for delivery of the course is £7800 + VAT (£9360 inc VAT)

This includes knowledge units, performance units, and the 18th Edition.

An initial deposit is required of £1000, with further payments spread across 30 months.

 

Before you are invoiced, you will be invited to the centre for a one-to-one interview to assess course suitability.

​

The AM2 is a mandatory unit that will need to be completed, this comprises of a 2.5-day assessment that can only be taken at a registered AM2 test centre. Beau Associates can prepare candidates and book a test date through Ashton AM2 Centre.
